Our Team
Baiba Wilde
Founder & Director
I have a combined 18 years of experience working in various roles in addictions' recovery, emergency shelters, and serving the homeless in a wonderful community centre in downtown Kitchener. What I have witnessed in the last four years of working in KW has opened my eyes to many things: particularly how isolated and frightened many people are and how they suffer deeply…most times alone. I knew in early September of 2023 that it was time to begin moving forward with the burden to bring newly homeless out of the cold and into a safe and supportive home environment.
Erin Leis
Director
I am passionate for advocating for persons suffering with mental health and dementia, along with any other possible needs. I worked in health care for 20 years, 10 years as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN). The last several years my heart for low income and homeless persons has increased. When asked to partner with Safe Haven Perth, I joined without hesitation as the needs in our community is growing.
Darlene Carman
Interim Director
I have worked within the social services sector of Perth County for many years in positions of support to people in crisis: Frontline Crisis Counsellor at Optimism Place; board member, trainer, and frontline worker for Telecare Stratford, and volunteer in two counselling programs at St Mary’s hospital.
When I heard that Safe Haven Perth was seeking a voting board member, I offered my assistance as an interim director. I believe that Safe Haven Perth is a worthwhile and much needed organization and I am honoured to be a part of it!
